Maharashtra Board Exam 2025: According to reports, the Maharashtra State Council for Educational Research and Training (SCERT) has reduced the passing marks for Maths and Science in the Class 10 board exams. The passing marks have been lowered from 35 to 20 under the new State Curriculum Framework-School Education (SCF-SE) for Class 10.
While students will pass with lower marks, they won’t be allowed to pursue Maths and Science in higher education. The certificate will indicate ‘Pass,’ but students won’t be eligible to take up these subjects in Class 11 or further studies.

The decision to lower the passing marks for Maths and Science aims to reduce the dropout rate among students who struggle to meet the minimum marks in Class 10 exams, encouraging them to explore subjects like Humanities and Arts.
As per reports, the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has confirmed that the revised passing marks will take effect once the new curriculum is implemented. The school education department has already approved the new curriculum framework, with these changes intended to prevent students from being unfairly excluded from the education system.
